My Journey to Become a Better Learner

Hello there, long time no see.

I am Tegar from English departement from Satya Wacana University in Salatiga. I am about to talk about my experience and my reflection when I am in that department.

At the beginning of the semester, I enjoyed reading as I have already begun reading English since I was young, not so much of listening since I was rarely exposed to such material although I am not too bad at it. My reading frequency was very high, I basically read at least 2 chapters of novels every day or the equivalent of it. For listening frequency besides the official one that is required, I usually listen to some material that I enjoyed, like music or video.

And at the end of the semester, I still like reading as much as before although I avoided the genre that I did not like. I increased my listening more now to improve my English compared to the beginning of the semester though the same as reading, I avoid the genre I did not like. I increased my reading frequency although that was also dependent on my mood of the day. I tried to do some listening in my time off as those can improve my English.

Sometimes there are still words that I don't understand or some confusing word when spoken. I slowly learn and understand them in time. I also sometimes make mistakes, but that is also okay because I can only improve when there is a mistake.

I think after this course I will still read and listen to graded readers as long I have time, and of course, if the genre that I like still exists there. I will still read and listen to them as some of theirs work are interesting. Here are my experiences in this one semester:

That was the experience I go through here in the English department. See you soon.
